Great location, quirky rooms, overall good

2009.03.16

We spent three nights in Ca Sa Padrina and would recommend it to others, with some reservations:
- our two rooms were on the 3rd floor and the stairs up to them were steep (the hotel warns you of this) so it would not be suitable for those who are less mobile or have heavy luggage
- the hotel is in the heart of the medieval city, so it is very atmospheric, lots of old buildings and narrow lanes. However bang opposite our room was a modern office/residential block – not so picturesque. It was a quiet area at night for a city though
- the area looks a little run down on first glance and a little offputting, but once we relaxed we were happy with it
- there is no member of staff in the hotel but they are on the end of the phone and are helpful
- the rooms are rather small but quaint, rather basically furnished
- the hot water ran out before I had my morning shower (9am)
- there is no means of making a cup of coffee or anything else within the building. This is not really a problem as there are plenty of cafes within a stone’s throw, except if you like a cup of tea first thing before you get dressed for the day or last thing at night. A kettle and a few cups in the reception area would be a great improvement.

Otherwise I would say that it is a good hotel which enables the visitor to feel much more at home in Palma than in an anonymous conventional hotel. The location is hard to beat, both from being within the city and getting to and from the airport and the rest of the island. The roof terrace was lovely in February, even if overlooked, and would be an asset in the hotter months

Stop complaining!

STOP COMPLAINING ! (<— SEE PREVIOUS COMENTS) 1. Wanna speak to a real human? Use the phone above. 2. I had a bill query. Walk to the siter hotel ‘Dalt Murada’ Near PL. Cort – Less than 5 min walk away. The Staff wer Fantastic !

3. No staff here? If you’re single and you strike lucky at one of the bars, you can bring your girl/guy here to pleasure her/him without having to walk past nosey reception staff!

4. No tea/cofee? Mc Donalds at PL. J.Carles for quick cuppa. Only 3 min walk.

5. Take BUS 3 from near hera all the way to ‘Cala Major’ beach

6. Do the trip to Soller by train – great !

Lloyd
